MONASTRELL

If anything identifies this Designation of Origin, certainly the variety Monastrell, becoming almost like a monoculture. It is a demanding strain sensitive crop, which has been in our area an ideal place to develop their full potential and is able to transmit it through their wines.

Wines of intense color, very expressive and fruity nose, with living in mouth tannins and great structure, has high oxidative power. Graduation remarkable wines are obtained, the Monastrell varietal only develops its full potential from 13 degrees.

It is a variety of Spanish origin, which loves the sun, prefers light, deep, well drained and presence of limestone soils.

It is able to withstand long periods of drought, where their development and production drop considerably when conditions become favorable, it is restored.

The Monastrell is a good sized plant with branches of light reddish brown and straight, leaves with hairs on the underside of almost entire medium sized bright green, has clusters of small to medium size and compact conical and a wing features its berries are small, spherical size of blue-black color, with thick skin and has a great uniformity in size.

SOIL AND WEATHER

Yecla is a transition zone between the plateau and the Mediterranean, the most important from the point of view of this area orographic feature is the remarkable altitude of the plateau, from which protrude numerous mountain ranges. The vineyards are located at altitudes ranging between 535 and 800 meters above sea level. The glacis are the way most typical and emblematic relief of the region. It is poor in organic matter but quite healthy and adequate permeability.

The climate is Mediterranean-continentalizado Yecla (IGN). With long, cold winters and hot summers. The temperature is characterized by a high thermal oscillation (20 ° C), allowing for excellent ripening. Rainfall is scarce and localized in autumn and spring, often in the form of stormy rains.
