SOIL AND WEATHER

Yecla is a transition zone between the plateau and the Mediterranean, the most important from the point of view of this area orographic feature is the remarkable altitude of the plateau, from which protrude numerous mountain ranges. The vineyards are located at altitudes ranging between 535 and 800 meters above sea level. The glacis are the way most typical and emblematic relief of the region. The main feature of the land is the character endorheic valleys. The soils of the area in general are of limestone type, a thick subsurface presence of carbonates and a sandy surface clay formations. It is poor in organic matter but quite healthy and adequate permeability.

The climate is Mediterranean-continentalizado Yecla (IGN). With long, cold winters and hot summers. The temperature is characterized by a high thermal oscillation (20 ° C), allowing for excellent ripening. Rainfall is scarce and localized in autumn and spring, often in the form of stormy rains. Throughout the year, the average rainfall ranging around 300 mm. During the last decade daylight hours have been recorded an average of 3385 hours.
